Legal
Law Enforcement Guidelines
Effective date: July 24, 2026
1. Overview
This page describes how SinglesPop responds to requests from law enforcement and government agencies for information about our users. It applies to all requests generally; for reports and requests specifically involving child sexual abuse material or exploitation (CSAE), see our Child Safety Standards, which describes our proactive reporting obligations to NCMEC.
SinglesPop discloses user information to law enforcement only when we are legally required to do so, or when necessary to prevent imminent harm. We scrutinize every request for legal sufficiency before producing any data.
2. Legal Process We Require
We require the following legal process, consistent with the U.S. Stored Communications Act, before disclosing the corresponding categories of information:
- Subpoena: basic subscriber information (name, email, phone number, account creation date, and IP login history), where permitted by law.
- Court order: the information available via subpoena, plus non-content records such as transaction history.
- Search warrant: required for the content of communications, including messages and photos.
We do not require legal process to voluntarily disclose information in the limited emergency circumstances described in Section 4 below.
3. Submitting a Request
Law enforcement and government requests must:
- Be made on official letterhead or from an official government email domain.
- Identify the specific account, user, or content at issue (email address, name, or account ID).
- Cite the specific legal authority under which the request is made.
- Be sent to legal@singlespop.com.
We will acknowledge receipt and respond as promptly as reasonably possible. We may seek to narrow requests we consider overbroad, and we reserve the right to challenge any request we believe is legally deficient.
4. Emergency Disclosure Requests
Where a government official represents that there is an emergency involving imminent danger of death or serious physical injury to a person, we may voluntarily disclose the information necessary to prevent that harm, without legal process, consistent with 18 U.S.C. § 2702(b)(8). Emergency requests should be sent to legal@singlespop.com and clearly marked as an emergency, describing the nature of the emergency and the specific information requested.
5. Preservation Requests
We can preserve account records in connection with an official criminal investigation for 90 days, pending our receipt of formal legal process, and can extend that preservation for an additional 90-day period upon request.
6. International Requests
SinglesPop is a U.S. company. Requests from outside the United States should be made through a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) request or letter rogatory, processed through the U.S. Department of Justice, unless an applicable international agreement provides for direct cooperation.
7. Notice to Users
Our policy is to notify affected users of a request for their information before disclosure, to give them an opportunity to object, unless we are prohibited from doing so by statute or court order, or in exceptional circumstances such as an emergency or a risk of harm to a child.
8. Data Retention
What information we collect and how long we retain it is described in our Privacy Policy. We can only produce information that we retain in the ordinary course of business.
9. Reimbursement
We do not charge a fee for standard requests. We reserve the right to seek reimbursement for costs associated with unusually burdensome requests, to the extent permitted by law.
10. Changes to These Guidelines
We may update these guidelines from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date above.
11. Contact
Law enforcement and government agencies may direct requests, including emergency requests, to legal@singlespop.com. For CSAE-specific reports, see our Child Safety Standards.
